The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

A Southern Italian Legacy, Transplanted to Macau

Don Alfonso 1890 is the Macau outpost of a family-owned, Michelin-starred restaurant rooted in Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi, on the Sorrento Peninsula. At its helm is Chef Ernesto Iaccarino, heir to the Iaccarino family that founded the original institution — a lineage that carries with it decades of commitment to the food traditions of Southern Italy and the Amalfi Coast. The restaurant has earned recognition from Gambero Rosso with 3 Forks in 2026, sits on the MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong | Macau with One Star, and holds a Five-Star Award from Forbes Travel Guide, among other distinctions — a testament to the consistency and ambition of what is widely considered one of the finest Italian restaurants in Macau.

Farm-to-Table at the Heart of It

Long before the term became fashionable, Don Alfonso 1890 was farming its own ingredients. The restaurant sources San Marzano tomatoes, Nocellara del Belice olives, and Namonte lemons directly from Le Peracciole, the family's own farm in Punta Campanella. Seasonal produce and premium ingredients are imported from their home regions in Southern Italy to ensure each dish delivers an authentic taste of Naples. This farm-to-table philosophy is not a marketing position — it is the operational backbone of the kitchen, and it shows in the precision and provenance of every plate.

The wine programme matches the ambition of the food. The restaurant's wine list debuted on China's Wine List of the Year Awards 2025 with the highest "3 Glass Award" rating, and won Wine Spectator 2025's Best of Award of Excellence — making it a destination for serious wine enthusiasts as much as lovers of Italian fine dining.

Versace Glamour as the Setting

The dining room at Level 3 of Palazzo Versace Macau is a considered collaboration between two Italian sensibilities. Handcrafted terrazzo floors with rosette and flower motifs draw inspiration from the historic Versace Villa on Lake Como. Bespoke furniture and Rosenthal x Versace tableware echo the house's Asian Dream motif, while paintings from Versace's Palace and the signature Barocco pattern line the walls. The result is a space that feels simultaneously vibrant and refined — convivial without sacrificing elegance.

Smart casual dress is required, and children aged six and above are welcome, making this an occasion restaurant that accommodates a range of guests without lowering its standards.
