Grand Kitchen occupies the lobby level of Palace Hotel Tokyo, one of the city's most storied addresses at 1-1-1 Marunouchi. The restaurant serves as the hotel's all-day dining anchor — a place that handles a power breakfast with the same ease as a long, convivial dinner. With 162 seats, two private dining rooms, and a terrace that overlooks the Imperial Palace moat, it offers something genuinely uncommon in central Tokyo: open air, calm water, and room to breathe.

The Space

The dining room is built around two focal points: a show kitchen at one end and a large see-through fireplace that opens into The Palace Lounge next door. The effect is warmth without formality. Beyond the main room, the moat-side terrace draws the most requests — a serene outdoor setting that the restaurant itself describes as "a rarity in Tokyo."

For private occasions, Grand Kitchen offers two fully enclosed rooms: an intimate space for up to 12 guests, and the Garden Room, which accommodates up to 50 for larger functions.

The Food

The kitchen draws from a wide register — American, French, Spanish, and Italian, with a touch of Japanese woven through. The format suits the hour: an extensive buffet or Japanese set at breakfast, sharing-style plates at dinner. The summer terrace menu leans into that communal spirit with a seafood-forward set featuring octopus and scallop ceviche, popcorn shrimp, yellow gazpacho, chicken and shrimp tacos, and a Surf & Turf — all paired with free-flow sparkling wine, beer, and cocktails. Seasonal à la carte highlights have included a lobster roll and a peach parfait, both available through summer.

The Wine Program

Wine Spectator recognized Grand Kitchen with its Best of Award of Excellence — a distinction that reflects the restaurant's selection of over 550 wines and a dedicated sommelier team on hand to guide pours and pairings. For a hotel all-day dining room, this is a serious cellar, and the recognition confirms it.

Smart casual is the standard. The kitchen runs from early morning through late evening, making Grand Kitchen one of the more versatile dining rooms in Marunouchi — equally suited to a quiet weekday lunch or a celebratory dinner on the terrace as the sun drops behind the moat.
