Etruschi

Etruschi in Tokyo's Aoyama brings free-spirited Italian cuisine rooted in nature, earning Gambero Rosso's Due Forchette five years running.

The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

Cucina Natura in the Heart of Aoyama

Etruschi describes its philosophy in three words: sozai (ingredients), ajiwai (flavour), and shitsurai (setting). The restaurant calls its approach "Cucina Natura" — Italian cooking that respects the long traditions of the cuisine while giving equal reverence to the natural gifts of vegetables, meat, and fish. Each plate is conceived as a unity of those three elements, free and original without ever losing sight of what Italian food is at its core.

The Chef Behind the Kitchen

Grand Chef Takashi Iwaki arrived at Italian cooking by an unusual route. He began his career in French cuisine, then pivoted to pastry in pursuit of the perfect dessert, before pasta drew him decisively toward Italy. He spent thirteen years as sous-chef at Il Ristorante Luca Fantin, one of Tokyo's most respected Italian addresses, developing menus under executive chef Luca Fantin. In 2024 he took the helm at Etruschi as executive chef, bringing that depth of experience to every service.

Recognition That Speaks for Itself

Gambero Rosso — the Italian gastronomic guide that stands alongside Michelin as a benchmark for Italian restaurants worldwide — has awarded Etruschi its Due Forchette (two forks) for five consecutive years. In the Tokyo edition, only six restaurants achieved two forks or more in a recent cycle, and Etruschi was among them. That consistency is a reliable signal of what to expect: precise, considered Italian cooking executed at a high level, year after year.

Menus and the Room

Lunch offers two set courses — TERRA and CIELO — while dinner scales up through three tasting menus: DALIA, AZALEA, and GIGLIO, with an à la carte option also available. The range allows guests to calibrate their experience, whether a midday lunch a short walk from Omotesando station or a full evening dedicated to the kitchen's longer narrative. Private dining and catering are also part of what Etruschi offers, making it a destination for both intimate celebrations and larger events.
