Rinaldi Al Quirinale

A family-run Roman institution with nearly 50 years of history, an extraordinary wine cellar, and a daily catch chosen at auction.

The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

A Family Legacy Behind the Quirinale

Just steps from the Palazzo del Quirinale, Rome's presidential residence, Rinaldi Al Quirinale began as the vision of Antonio Rinaldi and has grown into one of the Italian capital's most respected fine dining addresses. Nearly five decades later, the restaurant is run by Antonio's sons Vincenzo and Daniele, who have kept the founding spirit intact: rigorous sourcing, attentive service, and an atmosphere that manages to feel both exclusive and genuinely warm.

The space itself reflects that balance. Seven distinct dining rooms — including three highly private privé salons and an outdoor terrace — allow the restaurant to host everything from quiet business dinners to private celebrations, always with the discretion guests expect at this level.

Seafood at the Center

Fish is the kitchen's defining strength. Each day the team participates directly in the principal auctions along the Roman coastline, selecting the best of the national catch. A well-stocked live tank gives diners the rare option of choosing from lobster, sea crayfish, king crab, spider crab, and cigale before they are prepared. The Italian seafood on the plate here is as close to the sea as Rome gets.

The menu does not stop at seafood. Premium cuts of meat appear alongside seasonal ingredients — black and white truffles, porcini and ovoli mushrooms — handled with the same care given to the fish. The kitchen's philosophy is one of careful selection rather than elaboration: let exceptional raw materials speak.

A Wine Cellar Recognized Worldwide

The cellar at Rinaldi Al Quirinale is, by any measure, extraordinary — a fact recognized by Wine Spectator with its Best of Award of Excellence. The collection currently holds 22,000 bottles across 3,500 references from across the globe, with particular depth in Italian icons: Masseto from its inaugural 1987 vintage, Sassicaia from 1980, Ornellaia from 1985, Brunello di Montalcino Biondi Santi from 1964, and Gaja going back to 1958. French royalty is equally well represented, with Mouton Rothschild from 1928, Château Pétrus from 1937, and Romanée-Conti from 1982. Champagne lovers will find Krug, Bollinger, Dom Pérignon, and Cristal in serious depth — including a single 3-litre bottle of 24-carat gold Cristal, one of only 400 produced worldwide and the only one in Italy. The list closes with aged cognacs, vintage whiskies from 1958, rums, armagnacs, and grappa.

The Experience

Guests consistently describe the service as professional and attentive without ever feeling stiff — a difficult register to hold, and one the Rinaldi family has clearly mastered over generations. For those seeking a definitive Italian fine dining experience in Rome, with seafood sourced daily and a wine program that stands among the world's best, this is a considered and reliable choice.
