The story
Perched on the seventh floor of Hotel Hassler Roma, directly above the Spanish Steps at Piazza Trinità dei Monti, Imàgo has marked its 20th anniversary with a complete architectural reinvention. The redesign dissolves the boundary between dining room and kitchen, creating a fluid, open space where the energy of the pass becomes part of the experience itself — and where Rome unfolds across the windows in every direction.
At the heart of this new Imàgo is Chef Andrea Antonini, whose approach to contemporary Italian cuisine is both refined and deeply personal. His cooking draws on tradition without being constrained by it — a balance that has earned the restaurant its Michelin star and placed it firmly among Rome's most serious fine dining addresses. The kitchen's integration into the dining room adds a rare transparency: guests witness the discipline and precision behind each plate rather than simply receiving the result.
Completing the experience is one of Rome's most ambitious wine programs — a curated cellar of over 1,500 labels that earned Imàgo the Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence in 2024. The recognition speaks to a list built with genuine depth, not merely breadth, and to a sommelier team capable of navigating it with intelligence and warmth.
The reimagined space itself reinforces the ambition: tradition, creativity, and hospitality are described by the restaurant as merging into a singular experience — and the architecture now makes that claim visible rather than merely stated.
Imàgo operates Tuesday through Saturday, with the dining room open from 7:00 pm. The setting — Michelin-starred Italian cooking, an exceptional wine cellar, and one of the most dramatic rooftop panoramas in Europe — makes it a destination in its own right, independent of the hotel that houses it.
