The story
Ristorante Abramo in Pontremoli roots its Italian cooking in a quiet corner of the Lunigiana countryside. Abramo purchased a small farmhouse at Ponte Teglia in 1960, launching an osteria alongside his grocery shop while his wife Natalina shaped the early menus. Decades later, their son Silvano expanded the operation into the bright, adaptable building that stands today. The space retains the original warmth while accommodating larger groups through dedicated banquet halls and intimate side rooms.
Silvano Donati steers the Italian kitchen by anchoring every plate in local produce. He layers classic Lunigianese techniques with broader regional flavors, treating chestnuts, wild herbs, and cured meats as flexible foundations rather than rigid recipes. The staff balances precise execution with generous portions, an approach reflected in the Faccino Contento + designation from ilGolosario Ristoranti. Diners often describe the menu as straightforward yet quietly inventive.
The main salon features large windows that flood the room with daylight, while summer service shifts outdoors under fixed gazebos. Mature trees frame the terrace, directing attention toward the Apuan Alps beyond. The menu builds around substantial Italian cuisine, anchored by dishes like tortelli di castagna folded with sausage and leeks, capocollo draped in a herb crust and pink peppercorns, and a lamb rack coated in crushed pistachios. Evening desserts feature shortcrust tartlets filled with house-made preserves.
