Atto di Vito Mollica

Chef Vito Mollica's gastronomic restaurant inside Palazzo Portinari Salviati, Florence — where Renaissance frescoes meet contemporary Italian cuisine.

The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

A Renaissance Palace as the Stage

Atto di Vito Mollica occupies the gastronomic heart of Palazzo Portinari Salviati, one of Florence's most storied historic buildings on Via del Corso. The restaurant opens into the Corte degli Imperatori — the oldest nucleus of the palazzo — where vaulted rooms frescoed by Alessandro Allori provide a backdrop that few Italian dining rooms can rival. The conversation between past and present is not decorative: it is structural to everything the restaurant does, from the architecture to the plate.

Chef Vito Mollica

At the center of it all is Chef Vito Mollica, whose guiding philosophy is stated simply and directly: "Every dish is an act of love, a gesture that transmits passion, dedication and creativity." That word — atto, act — gives the restaurant its name and its character. The cooking is shaped by the overlapping needs of Florentines, Italian guests and an international clientele, without compromising the integrity of fine Italian cuisine.

The wine program earned a Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence in 2024, a recognition that reflects the seriousness with which the cellar is curated alongside the kitchen.

Four Spaces, One Address

Atto is the gastronomic restaurant proper, but Palazzo Portinari Salviati houses three further spaces that together form a continuous experience from morning through late evening. The Salotto Portinari Bistrot, set within the Corte Cosimo I, offers a more relaxed setting for a business lunch or an informal dinner. The Eye Cocktail Bar brings a modern, refined counter with fourteen seats, cocktails, wines and champagne. A dedicated private events space accommodates up to forty guests across multiple configurations, from a single convivial table to a seated dinner — making the palazzo a rare address for private dining in the city center.

The result is a single address with four distinct atmospheres, each coherent on its own terms, each part of a larger whole that runs from dawn to late night in the middle of Florence.
