The story
Agriturismo Bottega di Rosanna brings a refined approach to Country Cooking in Castagnole delle Lanze, where chef Rosanna Romito and her son Massimiliano guide a family kitchen rooted in ten years of hospitality. After working in acclaimed establishments and running the Bottega dei 4 Vini in Neive since 2014, Rosanna and Massimiliano shifted to an agricultural model where the garden feeds the table directly. Rosanna cooks with vegetables, fruit, olive oil, and hazelnuts harvested from the estate, infusing traditional techniques with personal touches. Massimiliano supports the kitchen as a certified AIS sommelier with a gastronomic sciences degree from Pollenzo, curating pairings that emphasize the region's terroir. The team's dedication to seasonal integrity earned a Faccino Contento + award, highlighting recipes that honor Piedmontese seasons while maintaining a distinct identity.
The menu showcases a modern take on Country Cooking, anchoring precise interpretations of regional classics with ingredients like the estate's own roasted hazelnuts and handmade pasta. The tajarin with Langa ragù stands out for its textural balance, while seasonal offerings include a rabbit roll accompanied by carrots cooked in rum and vanilla. A veal cheek braised in Barbaresco wine provides a rich counterpoint to the lighter vegetable dishes, all drawn from the farm's supply chain. Desserts highlight the local crop, notably a hazelnut cake served with zabaglione made at the moment, celebrating the nut harvest that defines the autumn months in this corner of Asti.
The dining room is a compact, welcoming space enclosed by six large windows that frame the rolling hills and vineyards of Castagnole delle Lanze. This layout ensures every table captures the changing light and the view of the estate's agricultural lands. Winemaking occurs on-site, yielding a Barbera d'Asti DOCG from a nearby hectare and a Roero Arneis DOCG sourced from Santo Stefano Roero. Both wines undergo fermentation and aging in steel tanks to retain crisp aromas, with the Barbera providing structure for meat dishes and the Arneis offering floral and fruity notes for seafood or white meats. The property also sells its own roasted hazelnuts and olive oil, inviting guests to take a piece of the terroir home.
