Haus Meer

The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

A House Reborn

The story of Haus Meer begins with an empty building on Moerser Strasse in Meerbusch, slowly reclaimed by flowers and climbing plants until it became, in the words of its founders, "a mysterious, enchanted place." Rather than let it fade, a team of restaurateurs saw something worth saving — and built around it a concept where art and gastronomy meet. Today the restored house serves as what regulars call the new living room of Meerbusch, drawing guests from across the Düsseldorf area for an evening that moves well beyond a standard restaurant visit.

Three Experiences Under One Roof

The heart of Haus Meer is its main restaurant and bar, where the kitchen delivers French-inflected bistro cooking built on seasonal and regional ingredients. The menu changes with the calendar, and the team's philosophy is straightforward: every dish tells a story, every bite should fascinate. The outdoor terrace extends the dining room into the garden — a setting that earned the house its reputation as a place to linger.

Wine is taken seriously here. Master of Wine Konstantin Baum has assembled the cellar, bringing together bottles from every major wine-growing region on earth — from approachable everyday selections to rare collector's pieces. The Wine Spectator recognised this commitment in 2025 with its Best of Award of Excellence, one of the guide's most respected distinctions for restaurant wine programs.

A third, entirely separate experience awaits in the junsui, an omakase counter with just six seats. Sushi master Jay Lee composes a daily-changing selection, drawing guests into a room designed with the spare elegance of traditional Japanese interiors. The contrast with the French-influenced main dining room is deliberate — and it works.

Atmosphere and Approach

The setting balances elegance with genuine warmth. Attentive, professional service is part of the promise, but so is a sense of ease — this is a place designed for friends sharing a meal, not a stage for performance. Private dining, catering, and event spaces round out the offer for those looking to mark an occasion. Whether the draw is the French cuisine, the exceptional wine list, or a rare seat at the omakase counter, Haus Meer makes a compelling case for the short drive from Düsseldorf.
