The story
Steps from the rows of Château de Smith Haut Lafitte, La Grand'Vigne sits beneath an elegant glass canopy inspired by 18th-century greenhouses — a setting that frames the surrounding Bordeaux landscape as part of the experience itself. The dining room, dressed in deep carbon tones with natural materials and refined table settings, wraps guests in a warm, enveloping atmosphere that feels both grand and intimate.
The restaurant holds two Michelin stars, four Gault & Millau toques, and membership in Les Grandes Tables du Monde since 2024. Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence for 2025 speaks directly to the depth of the cellar: 1,200 references, with a particular focus on the great crus of Pessac-Léognan, curated and paired by Chef Sommelier Aurélien Farrouil.
At the stove, Nicolas Masse composes a cuisine of precision and conviction. Everything begins at the on-site permaculture kitchen garden or with a visit to a neighboring producer — all suppliers are drawn exclusively from the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. The philosophy is quietly radical: vegetables from the bio garden take center stage, seafood comes from sustainable fisheries, and a single meat dish appears on the menu, its portion deliberately measured to balance pleasure with reduced environmental impact. Seasonal cooking, here, is not a marketing position but a structural commitment.
Pastry Chef Anthony Chenoz, trained in Aquitaine, works in close collaboration with Masse to bring the same balance and emotion to desserts — from delicate petit-fours to composed plated sweets that close the meal with elegance.
Three tasting menus offer different depths of exploration: the four-course Terre de Vignes (185 €), the six-course Terroir Végétal (235 €), and the seven-course Grand Millésime (275 €). Wine pairings are available to match the four- and six-course formats, and non-alcoholic alternatives are offered for every pairing. A dedicated children's menu is also available.
La Grand'Vigne treats seasonal, local sourcing not as a trend but as the foundation of every plate. The brigade works with what the land and sea offer at any given moment, and the menu evolves continuously with the surrounding nature. A smart dress code is requested — a small but telling detail that reflects the care given to every element of the experience.
