The story
La Grappe d'Or is a gastronomic restaurant in the historic town of Riquewihr, offering a menu that honors the traditions of Alsatian cuisine. The kitchen focuses on regional ingredients and time-honored recipes, earning a Michelin Recommended distinction for its consistent quality.
The menu reads like a tour of Alsace. Starters include snails prepared "à l'alsacienne" – a classic preparation – and a variation around Munster cheese, presented as a samoussa with a crispy tuile. For fish, paupiettes of trout stuffed with crayfish and salmon trout come with a light sauce and gratin of vegetables. Meat dishes range from medallions of pork tenderloin with confit lemon and homemade spätzle to a deboned rabbit loin stuffed with dried apricots.
The heart of the menu lies in the "plats du terroir" – dishes of the land. A traditional choucroute is made with goose fat and five garnishes: knack, Montbéliard sausage, pork shoulder, salted and smoked bacon. The baeckaoffa "Maison" combines marabel potatoes, pork and cooked pig's foot in goose fat. A cocotte of Munster cheese, prepared like a tartiflette, offers a rich, creamy option.
Desserts stay true to the region: floating island with orange caramel, black forest cake, and a griotte sorbet with cherries in eau-de-vie. Wine pairings are suggested, including local Gewurztraminer.
The setting is a classic Alsatian building on rue des Écuries Seigneuriales, with outdoor seating available. The dining room is air-conditioned, and private parties can be accommodated. La Grappe d'Or is open for lunch and dinner, closed Wednesdays.
