The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

Yes Please

The name says it all. JATAK — Danish for "yes please" — is an intimate restaurant on Rantzausgade in Nørrebro, Copenhagen's vibrant and diverse neighbourhood. The ethos here is one of genuine enthusiasm: for local produce, for seasonality, and for the freedom to reinterpret familiar ingredients through a lens of cultural curiosity.

The Solar Menu

At the heart of the experience is the JATAK Solar Menu, a tasting format built around the Chinese solar season calendar — twenty-four periods that track the subtle shifts in weather and nature far more precisely than the conventional four seasons. The kitchen uses this framework to ensure every ingredient arrives at its absolute peak, then applies a philosophy of restraint: a few carefully chosen components per dish, ranging from subtle nuances to bold, intense flavours.

The current menu, titled Grain in Ear, illustrates the range well. Fjord shrimp opens proceedings alongside Koshihikari rice and quince. Danish eel appears with heirloom grains and ramson. Weeverfish is paired with spinach and doubanjiang — a fermented broad bean paste that signals the kitchen's willingness to reach beyond Scandinavian tradition. Nord Vildt spring lamb arrives with green asparagus, mint and green garlic. The meal closes with Ma Lai Gao cake with rhubarb and long pepper, and last bites of Nian Gao cookie and woodruff churro. It is a menu that balances the familiar and the challenging, the local and the global.

Recognition and the Kitchen

White Guide awarded JATAK its Masters level distinction for 2026, citing chef Jonathan Tams's menu Autumnal Equinox as a benchmark for flavour precision — specifically praising juices, sauces and dressings of exceptional quality, and a wine pairing programme that leaves guests feeling light yet fully satisfied. That combination of technical rigour and genuine pleasure is exactly what the restaurant promises: "a symphony of diverse, harmonious experiences" where "less can be more on the plate."

The wine pairing is available in a five- or seven-glass format, and the overall experience — intimate room, neighbourhood energy, a menu that shifts with the solar calendar — makes JATAK one of the more considered tasting menu destinations in Copenhagen.

White Guide — Masters level

Since when has a chicken become luscious in its flavor expression? It is now, as part of chef Jonathan Tams’s menu Autumnal Equinox – a menu that is generally filled with juiciness, acidity, richness, and lightness. Here are juices, sauces, and dressings that knock our socks off, and combined with a very skillful wine pairing we move from the JATAK restaurant in vibrant Nørrebro with lightness in spirit and body and satiety in the stomach.
