The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

Food – Wine – Atmosphere

A stone's throw from the ARoS Rainbow in central Aarhus, Miró has been one of Denmark's most quietly consistent fine dining destinations for over three decades. The White Guide awarded it Masters level in 2026, noting with admiration how owner and founder Toni Leichtle has maintained a restaurant at a consistently high level for more than 30 years — a rare achievement in any culinary landscape, let alone one as competitive as the Nordic region.

The Kitchen's Philosophy

The concept is deliberately unfussy. A five-course menu built on classical French technique, seasonal ingredients, and close relationships with local producers. Head chef Jeppe Hjortshøj leads a kitchen where craft and flavour come first. Current dishes on the menu include white asparagus with chive and trout roe, sandart with pear and mussel cream, squid with koji and parsnip root, and dry-aged pork with peas and ramsons — each paired with a carefully chosen wine from the restaurant's extensive cellar.

For those who want to go further, the "Hele molevitten" package adds Cava snacks, Oscietra caviar with Duval-Leroy Champagne, truffle on terrine, and a full five-glass wine pairing. Foie gras, a cheese course, and additional caviar are available as supplements. A shorter three-course menu is offered Tuesday through Thursday.

The Wine Cellar

Wine is taken as seriously here as the food. Miró's cellar has been built over many years and spans both classic and more unconventional productions — the restaurant has even developed wines under its own name. Guests can opt for a curated wine pairing or explore the list independently, with the team always on hand to guide. The cellar is also open for retail, with bottles and cases available to take home.

The Room and the Welcome

The atmosphere inside Miró is relaxed and personal — familiar faces among the staff, a consistent interior, and a warmth that returns guests time and again. Whether it's a first visit or one of many, the intention is always the same: that guests feel at home. The restaurant also handles private parties and catering both on-site and off, with planning done in close collaboration with each host.
