Via Tevere

Vancouver's certified Neapolitan pizzeria, rooted in a Naples family tradition and recognized by Gambero Rosso for its wood-fired craft.

The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

A Naples Street, Brought to Vancouver

The story starts on an actual street — Via Tevere, in the heart of Naples — where, generations ago, a family lived by the rhythms of the table. That origin shapes everything at Via Tevere Pizzeria Napoletana today, from the way the dough is handled to the ingredients that arrive in the kitchen. It is not a concept or a theme; it is a direct continuation of something older.

The clearest proof of that commitment is membership #399 in the Associazione Vera Pizza Napoletana (AVPN), the body that certifies and protects the traditional Neapolitan method. Gambero Rosso, the authoritative Italian food guide, has recognized Via Tevere with a slice award — a distinction that carries real weight when the judge is Italian.

The Pizza, in Proper Order

The menu is organized the way Neapolitan pizzerias have always organized it: by sauce base. Tomato-based pies range from the spare Marinara (tomato, garlic, oregano) and the classic Margherita with fior di latte, through to the Capricciosa loaded with prosciutto cotto, salame, artichokes, mushrooms, and olives. Olive-oil-based bianche include the Quattro Formaggi — fior di latte, ricotta, smoked provolone, grana padano — and the Salsiccia e Rapini with Italian sausage and broccoli rabe. A cream-sauce section adds the Boscaiola, with smoked provolone, pancetta, mushrooms, and onions, and the Pizza Gatto, finished with whipped potato and black pepper.

Antipasti keep to the same register: a Caprese with fresh mozzarella, Nodi Pazzi (hand-tied dough knots with garlic and grana padano), and the Polpetta della Nonna, a single housestyle meatball in tomato sauce. The Victoria Drive location also offers Frittura Napoletana — arancini, potato crocchè, and pasta frittatine — classic Neapolitan street food that rarely appears on Vancouver menus.

Desserts are made in-house: tiramisu layered with coffee-soaked ladyfingers and mascarpone, cannoli with rotating ricotta fillings, and at Victoria Drive, the Graffa, a handmade Neapolitan fritter dusted with sugar and cinnamon.

Two Locations, Same Standard

Via Tevere operates two sit-down pizzerias in Vancouver — on Main Street and on Victoria Drive — as well as a mobile catering unit called Il Saltimbocca. The Victoria Drive location, listed here, runs on a walk-in basis. The room is available for exclusive hire and private events, making it a practical choice for groups who want something more considered than a standard restaurant booking.

The Neapolitan pizza at Via Tevere is the result of a specific tradition, a certified method, and ingredients chosen to match. That combination is exactly what the Gambero Rosso recognition reflects.
