The story
Annette bar à vin puts it plainly: "Apéro vite fait / verre de vin soigneusement sélectionné / soirée qui s'étire / plat délicieusement préparé / nuit rythmique / 100% bien accompagné." That sentence is essentially the whole philosophy — a place where a single glass has a way of becoming a table, and a table has a way of becoming a night.
Located at 4051 rue Molson in the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie district of Montréal, Annette is part of the Hoogan & Beaufort family of establishments. The address is adult-only (18+), signalling that the room is designed for a certain intentionality: you come here to pay attention to what's in your glass and on your plate.
Three figures shape the experience. Chef Marc-André Jetté leads the kitchen, producing what the restaurant calls a cuisine of sharing — rooted in local sourcing, seasonal rhythm, and a kitchen culture where "beurre = culture." Hugo Duchesne, director of sommellerie, presides over a wine list deep enough to earn Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence in 2024 — a distinction the bar has held since 2023. Annette's own words on Hugo: "au moment où l'on se parle, Hugo est assurément en train de parler vin." Olivier Quintin, director of dining, oversees the bar side, crafting what Annette describes as minimalist, timeless cocktails — built on raw ingredient, texture, and season, with a close working relationship between bar and kitchen.
The wine list is the spine of the room. Wine Spectator's continued recognition speaks to its breadth and curation — a program that, in Annette's words, balances "plaisir + partage + rigueur," making the most subtle distinctions approachable without flattening them. Alongside the bottles, a rotating selection of wines by the glass and signature cocktails keeps the offering lively for those who want to explore rather than commit.
The Canadian kitchen output is designed to accompany rather than compete — shared plates that reward the kind of slow, conversational dinner the space is built for.
Annette runs a steady calendar of events: winemaker dinners (a recent evening featured Marina Marcarino of Domaine Punset, with a five-course menu by Jetté and wine pairings by Duchesne), Mediterranean tastings, and comedy club nights. The private room accommodates up to 50 guests in banquet configuration or 60 in cocktail mode, making it a practical choice for corporate gatherings, wine tastings, or celebrations.
The Michelin Guide has also taken note, awarding Annette a Bib Gourmand in 2025 — recognition that the quality-to-experience ratio here is hard to argue with.
