The story
Gianni's Ristorante Italiano has been the address for Italian food in Aruba for over 35 years. Sitting on Palm Beach, across from the Hilton Resort, it has built a reputation that extends well beyond the island — earning a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2023 for a wine list that guests consistently describe as exceptional.
The restaurant draws families, couples, and corporate groups alike. Inside and outside dining areas accommodate everything from birthday dinners to wedding rehearsals, and every Sunday an à la carte brunch runs from 11am to 3pm, with the menu refreshed monthly and occasional live entertainment for holidays and special occasions.
Ask regulars what to order and the answer is immediate: the Spaghetti al Formaggio Parmigiano. A large wheel of Parmigiano Reggiano DOP is brought tableside, whisky is poured in and lit, and once the flames die down the cooked spaghetti is rolled through the molten cheese until fully coated. It is prepared for a minimum of two guests and has become the dish that brings people back — one guest returned just three nights after their first visit.
The broader Italian menu ranges from straightforward antipasti — Bruschetta Napoli, Branzino Carpaccio, Melanzane Parmigiana — to more elaborate pasta and seafood dishes. Standouts include the Lobster Tortellini with housemade duo-color pasta and a lobster tail, the Risotto Alla Pescatora built on housemade lobster broth, and the Short Ribs and Ricotta-stuffed Conchiglioni finished with demi-glace. For meat, the Ossobuco Alla Milanese — braised veal shank with Risotto Milanese — is a classical anchor on the menu.
Gluten-free pasta and gluten-free desserts are available on request, making the kitchen accessible to a wider table.
The Wine Spectator recognition reflects a cellar curated to match the depth of the Italian kitchen. Guests note both the breadth of the selection and the warmth of the service — the kind of place, as one reviewer put it, where "they treat you like family."
