The story
In the heart of Vilnius, steps from the Town Hall, Kristoforas is a restaurant-bar that tells the stories of the city through its food. The menu is a precise example of how to reveal the diversity of world flavours while adhering to classic French cuisine, with Italian influences woven throughout. Chef Ernestas Mankovskis leads the kitchen with creativity and meticulous care, drawing food lovers who appreciate high-quality culinary experiences and an authentic setting.
The restaurant earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2026, a recognition that rewards good quality, good value cooking. It is a fitting nod to the thoughtful ingredients and technique that define every dish here.
Chef Mankovskis’s vision inspires not only his team but also guests who seek refined comfort. The starters speak to the kitchen’s precision: a Vitello Tonnato with veal loin, tuna-anchovy sauce, and crispy capers, or a smoked trout with beetroot and ricotta-horseradish cream. For something more adventurous, the venison tartare pairs aged venison with porcini mushrooms and black garlic cream.
Mains lean toward French classics with a Baltic twist. The duck breast comes with carrot cream, chicory, and a chicken broth and pickled mustard sauce. The lamb loin is accompanied by baba ganoush and potatoes in a chicken broth sauce. For those who prefer vegetarian options, the cauliflower and cabbage dishes are simple yet clever.
Desserts are named after the restaurant itself: Kristoforas is a dark chocolate mousse with chocolate biscuit and dried porcini; Rotušė is a white chocolate mousse with rum, hazelnut cream, and salty caramel. The wine list, curated over seven years by owners Jolanta and Dalius Šlapeliai together with wine expert Jūratė Sp, offers a carefully selected collection.
The interior is distinguished, with a bar that sets the tone for the evening. Service is attentive and polished. The space is also available for private events, business lunches, and catering. It is a place where the essence of Vilnius flavours meets classic European technique, earning its place among the city’s best.
