The story
Augustin takes its name and spirit from the Augustinian monks who once sheltered in the neighbourhood, growing and sharing their seasonal harvest with the community. Today, that ethos of togetherness lives on in a modern cuisine that puts vegetables at the centre of the table. Located on Didžioji Street in Vilnius’ Old Town, the restaurant invites guests to pass plates, taste widely, and linger.
Chef Darius Medvedevas has been with Augustin almost since the beginning. Demanding and meticulous, he was awarded the prestigious Michelin Young Chef award in 2025 – a recognition of his skill and creativity. The kitchen he runs is built around seasonal vegetables and bold, layered flavours.
The menu is divided into cold and hot starters, mains, and a selection of dishes meant for sharing. Guests regularly return for the beef tartare with potato gratin, capers, and shimeji mushrooms, or the roasted pumpkin with yoghurt sauce, apricots, mango amba, and dukkah. The kohlrabi mille-feuille, served with crayfish tails and a dan dan dressing, is another favourite. Mains include duck breast with a potato and chorizo blini and dried porcini sauce, or beef tenderloin with celery-apple cream and truffle mayonnaise.
In 2024, Augustin was included in the Michelin Guide, and in 2025 it earned a Bib Gourmand – the award reserved for restaurants offering exceptional cooking at a favourable price. It is a fitting nod to a restaurant that combines refined technique with a genuinely welcoming atmosphere, whether you are dining indoors or on the outdoor terrace.
