Monte Pacis occupies the guest house of the Pažaislis monastery, a 17th-century ensemble built by the Grand Duchy of Lithuania nobleman K. Z. Pacas for himself, his guests, and travelers. Today, the same spirit of hospitality endures: the monastery’s serenity, the echoes of noble life, and a warm welcome define the experience. The restaurant is set within a large park just outside Kaunas, offering a peaceful escape.

Modern Cuisine, Thoughtfully Prepared

The kitchen reinterprets Lithuanian cuisine in a modern and visually appealing way. Native, Baltic, and international ingredients are carefully prepared into flavoursome dishes. The cuisine is contemporary, with a clear focus on modern techniques and presentation. The Michelin Guide, which recommends the restaurant, notes this approach, highlighting the careful preparation and visual appeal of the plates.

A Wine Lover’s Destination

The owner is a passionate wine-lover and a qualified sommelier, making wine a natural highlight. The cellar holds more than 200 bottles, each individually and lovingly described. The restaurant’s wine list has been officially recognised as the BEST DESSERT WINE LIST in the Baltic countries. Selections include wines from monastery vineyards across Europe, alongside natural teas from local herbs and bitters prepared from authentic recipes.

The restaurant offers several distinct spaces, each with its own character: the main Restaurant Hall, the Festive Founders’ Hall, the elegant Claire Isabell Hall, a sunny Chariot Terrace, and a romantic Linden Alley. Whether dining indoors or outside, the atmosphere reflects the majestic history and spiritual neighbourhood of the monastery, complemented by warm hospitality and respect for every guest.
