Celebrated table

Rùn

Forbes Four-Star Cantonese restaurant at The St. Regis Hong Kong, with resident tea master, designer interiors, and picture-perfect dim sum.

The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

Contemporary Cantonese with a Sense of Place

Rùn occupies a quietly commanding position within The St. Regis Hong Kong on Harbour Drive in Wan Chai. The room, designed with beige and bronze tones, generous woodwork, and contemporary glass Chinese lanterns, feels distinctly rooted in Hong Kong without leaning on cliché. At night, those lanterns cast a warm glow that makes the space feel genuinely special. Tables are spaced generously — a deliberate choice that sets Rùn apart from the tightly packed dining rooms common elsewhere in the city.

Tea as a Thread Through the Meal

Tea is not an afterthought here. Resident tea master Kezia Chan oversees a selection of 28 different blends, available as thoughtful pairings with individual dishes or as a curated experience arranged in advance. For those who prefer something with a little more edge, the tea-infused cocktails are worth exploring. This layered approach to beverage — where the drink is considered as carefully as the food — is one of the things that earned Rùn its Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star recognition.

The Menu

The contemporary Cantonese cuisine at Rùn spans a wide and confident range: dim sum, roasted meats, steamed fish preparations, double-boiled soups, and Chinese petit fours. Presentations are precise and ingredient quality is clearly a priority. The menu doesn't chase novelty for its own sake — it draws on the full breadth of Cantonese tradition and renders it with care.

Practical Considerations Worth Knowing

The back left corner of the dining room offers a balance of natural light and privacy. Two private dining rooms are available for larger groups or special occasions; each comes with its own sitting area, a private bathroom, and a large circular table with a lazy Susan — well suited to the sharing rhythms of Cantonese cuisine. The restaurant also accommodates vegetarian and gluten-free diners, and is welcoming to families.

If the setting is any indication, tea is a big part of the experience at Rùn, so be sure to try at least a cup or two. Resident tea master Kezia Chan can arrange a special tea-pairing experience or recommend one of the restaurant’s 28 different blends to accompany your dishes. We particularly enjoyed the tea-infused cocktails, should that be more your style.Unlike many Hong Kong restaurants that tend to pack people in, Rùn’s tables are well spaced around the room to ensure diners have plenty of elbow room. Ask for the back left corner for extra privacy and natural light, or an inner table to sink into soft banquette seats.Fu’s design sets the scene for an unforgettable meal. Look for pretty beige and bronze notes, lots of wood, and Hong Kong-inspired touches, such as contemporary glass Chinese lanterns that look particularly gorgeous at night.Reserve one of the two private dining rooms if you are expecting lots of friends, carrying an inconsolable baby or celebrating a special occasion. You’ll not only have your own comfy sitting area, but also a private bathroom and large circular table with a lazy Susan that makes sharing Chinese food much easier. The menu masters a wide range of contemporary Cantonese cuisine — dim sum, roasted meats, steamed fish dishes, nutritious double-boiled soups and Chinese petit fours — with only the best ingredients and picture-perfect presentations.
